Only experience and education obtained by the closing date 11/27/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualifications. Basic Requirement: 1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. 2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Minimum Qualifications GS-11 A. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: Design and implementation of monitoring programs for endangered species, supervising large crews of biologists and volunteers in the field, conducting fisheries stock assessments and population estimation, presenting complex scientific information to natural resource and land managers. B. I have three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a discipline directly related to the position. C. I have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described in A and B above that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Biologist, GS-0401-11 working in Lakeview, OR Oregon for the R1-Sheldon-Hart Mountain NWR Complex. This is a term position expected to last 13 months, but may be extended up to a total of 3 years (if funding is available a 4th year may be authorized).
