In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Performing technical management functions supporting flight programs/projects; Utilizing systematic processes and investigative techniques to proactively approach problem solving; Providing technical advice on engineering project or program integration, and testing and resolving problems that impact at least one of the following: addressing critical timelines, technical risk, resource allocation, compatibility of systems and subsystems, or project performance. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Performing technical management functions that require working with multi-disciplined or cross-functional teams involved in flight programs/projects; Performing strategic planning and technical management functions supporting investigative and anomaly resolution; Coordinating and leading cross-functional teams of experts to develop solutions for problems that impact multiple operations areas (e.g., more than one of the following: addressing critical timelines, technical risk, resource allocation, compatibility of systems and subsystems, or project performance). Commercial Crew Program (CCP) experience is highly preferred but not required. The NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) is seeking an AST, Technical Management to serve as a senior systems engineer in the NESC Integration Office (NIO). You will be responsible for coordinating NESC involvement in major milestone reviews, technical exchange meetings, and ensuring communication of program-related activities through program boards and panels and other technical meetings across the Space Operations Mission Directorate.
