In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Leading a multidisciplinary development team or technology projects that include creating specifications, statement of work, requirements, trades, drawings, and analysis for spacecraft Electrical Power System development; Performing project management in all phases of the project’s life cycle including the cost, evaluation, and schedule control of spacecraft Electrical Power System development for flight applications and custom Ground Support Equipment for specialized performance evaluation of in and out-of-house spacecraft Power Electronics; Performing laboratory research, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing issues of space flight Power System components including the development of specialized test equipment with the ability to investigate, resolve problems and test to provide long term reliability in spacecraft Power Systems area and achieve mission requirements. The Power Systems Branch is looking for someone with unique technical and programmatic skills to join their team as a Senior Power Systems Engineer specializing in spacecraft Electrical Power Systems development, implementation, and in-orbit operations. The work involves architecture, development/demonstration of leading-edge technology in power generation and storage design supporting all facets of space-borne and landed craft. Leads teams in hardware development to meet mission requirements.
