Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-5: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS 4 grade level; OR a bachelor’s degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school; OR combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Examples of specialized experience include: Greeted visitors and responded to phone and written inquiries personally or referring to other staff as appropriate; Maintained written records and files in electronic and/or hardcopy filing systems; Used word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print standardized documents ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format. For the GS-6: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.
Examples of specialized experience include: Provided support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions; Reconciled purchases and maintained files in accordance with regulations; Processed incoming and outgoing mail, established and maintained the Unit’s files, accountable property inventories and records; Used automated software to produces reports, correspondence and other written documents in draft form. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
This position is located on the Shasta Trinity National Forest, Shasta Lake Ranger District, Mountain Gate Ca. The incumbent is responsible for providing a variety of clerical/administrative services for the unit.
