PRIMARY METHOD: Successful completion of a full four-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering in an accredited college or university. To be acceptable the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the ABET as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;(b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics;(e)electrical fields and circuits;(f)nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties);(g)any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. In addition to the basic requirements, all candidates must demonstrate one year of SPECIALIZED experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the Federal Government. (Must have held the next lower grade level at an FG-13 or FV-I band to qualify for an FV-J band and an FG-13 or FV-I band to qualify for a FV-J band).SPECIALIZED experience is experience with advanced engineering principles, theories and concepts on grounding and bonding, electrical distribution code compliance, electrical architecture and functions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience are:Experience reviewing technical cost estimates to contract change orders and work with senior engineer to develop final costs.
