The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
You qualify for this position at the IC-09 level (starting salary $55,419) if you possessthe following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-07) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of the following specialized experience. Assisting in the administration of disaster assistance programs,
Preparing written correspondence such as reports, instructions, and/or briefings; and,
Assisting in the analysis and/or evaluation of programs to provide recommendations. OR
Master’s or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D.
OR Combinations of education and experience
You qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $67,052) if you possessthe following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-09) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of the following specialized experience. Applying laws, regulations, and policies related to disaster management operations;
Developing presentations, reports, and technical materials in relation to hazard mitigation programs; and,
Providing technical assistance on mitigation programs. OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M.
OR Combinations of education and experience
You qualify for this position at the IC-12 level (starting salary $80,367) if you possessthe following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-11) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of the following specialized experience. Administering, monitoring, and closing out Federal Hazard Mitigation grants;
Coordinating the implementation of hazard mitigation programs with a variety of stakeholders; and,
Utilizing automated and electronic systems to write, correspond, and present Hazard Mitigation concepts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
