If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify for the GS-09, you must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in Federal service.Specialized experienceisperforming assignments and applying laws and policies in support of a transportation program for the shipment and/or delivery of commodities, freight or cargo. This experience must include: Utilizing automated transportation system, such as the Integrated Booking System (IBS) and the Financial Air Clearance Transportation System (FACTS) or similar transportation systems to create cargo bookings.
Researching, interpreting, and applying laws and policies regarding transportation actions
Identifying, obtaining, and preparing documentation needed to plan, execute, and record transportation actions; and
Communicating transportation policies and procedures both orally and in writing. OR A master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree OR have completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, with a major in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR A combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.
As a Traffic Management Specialist, you willassist with handling the day-to-day variety of situations, issues and problems, consulting the supervisor and/or higher graded personnel on those that are unusual or controversial, to ensure the efficiency and economical use of carrier services.
