Information Technology Specialist (Systems Analysis)

Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements:
Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:1. Attention to Detail – Investigating, evaluating, and selecting tools and methods for improving productivity and software quality throughout the life cycle; thoroughly review various Information Technology (IT) related data/information; ensuring tasks are complete, precise, and accurate for a given IT situation; performs a detailed feasibility analysis for adopting new software design technologies.2. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance; resolving issues through a problem resolution database; and ensuring customers are properly trained in the full range of features and functions of a system.3. Oral Communication – Communicates complex technical requirements to nontechnicalpersonnel; prepares and presents briefings to senior managementofficials on complex/controversial issues; Provides advice, guidance, andrecommendations to the enhancement and management of infrastructure andinformation systems; negotiates agreements, establishes relationships, andrepresents the program in dealings with other organizations.4. Problem Solving – Isolates, diagnoses/ and corrects problems that arise in thesupport, administration, and management of applications, databases, servers,storage, networking, and virtualization that comprise the development networkinfrastructure. Evaluates the impact of changes in policy or regulations that affectbusiness operations to be automated in order to adjust systems designs toaccommodate changes.ANDHave at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing and implementing specialized systems hardware and software technology such as Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies, database management, and server virtualization.
Experience overseeing the planning and scheduling of theinstallation of new or modified hardware, network/server operating systems, and applications software.
Experience diagnosing system failures to isolate the source of problems between equipment, system software, and application programs.
Experience providing technical advice and guidance to management regarding complex operational and systems issues. NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
This position is located in theBureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services,Office of the Executive Director (CGFS/EX). The incumbent serves as an IT Specialist and is responsible forperforming or collaborating with the Division Chief (EX/ IT) in overall system administration and internet/intranet responsibilities.
