About the Role
The Senior Technical Services Analyst will own end-to-end delivery of complex data migration projects for enterprise, state, federal, and multi-agency customers implementing a public safety software platform. This role covers requirements gathering, data extraction, transformation, loading, validation, go-live support, and customer-facing technical guidance.
The position is focused on complex legacy data structures, advanced SQL, relational databases, structured data formats, ETL awareness, data architecture, and migration best practices. The successful candidate will work with customers, implementation teams, Data Operations, Product, and Engineering while helping scale migration delivery through automation, data pipeline tooling, and AI-assisted workflows.
What You'll Do
Data Migration Delivery & Technical Execution
- Own the full lifecycle of data migration projects, including requirements gathering, extraction, transformation, loading, validation, and go-live support.
- Analyze complex legacy data structures and design migration approaches that account for how data will operate within the target platform architecture.
- Consider system-level impact, not only field-level mapping, when designing migration strategies.
- Author advanced SQL to extract, join, and transform disparate data from customer sources.
- Work with SQL backups, CSV, XML, TXT, and multi-system exports as part of migration delivery.
- Solve novel migration challenges involving multi-system consolidations, new module implementations, non-standard data structures, and customers with advanced operational requirements.
- Execute quality assurance on deployed data.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies with minimal escalation.
Requirements Translation & Solution Design
- Translate customer operational models and legacy data structures into the target platform architecture.
- Evaluate downstream impacts on workflows, reporting, and system behavior.
- Identify gaps and edge cases between legacy systems and the target platform.
- Propose creative solutions when gaps arise, or escalate to Product with clear and actionable context.
- Guide customers through data decisions using deep platform knowledge, industry context, and a consultative approach.
- Serve as the technical voice in customer-facing conversations involving data scope, feasibility, and constraints.
Mentorship & Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as a SQL and data architecture subject-matter expert for the Data Migration team.
- Coach junior analysts on query construction, data modeling, validation approaches, and data migration best practices.
- Provide technical direction and review across active migration projects.
- Help improve quality and consistency across data migration delivery.
- Contribute expertise to internal tooling, process design, and documentation that scale team capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Implementation Managers to scope and sequence data work within broader project timelines.
- Coordinate with Data Operations on load specifications, environment readiness, and production deployment.
- Support Product and Engineering with data-informed feedback on schema changes, import tool capabilities, and customer-facing data features.
Automation, ETL Awareness & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute knowledge and expertise to ETL pipeline and automation initiatives, including pipeline orchestration, schema-as-code, and automated validation.
- Identify repetitive or manual work and build, or help build, scripts, templates, and workflows to reduce manual effort.
- Experiment with AI-assisted workflows and tooling to deliver results faster with less manual overhead.
- Maintain awareness of modern data engineering practices and tools that can improve migration delivery at scale.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in data migration, data operations, or a technical implementation role within a SaaS environment.
- In-depth experience writing SQL from scratch, including complex joins, CTEs, subqueries, window functions, and output validation.
- In-depth understanding of relational databases, structured data formats, and data modeling concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to manage enterprise-level customer relationships from a detailed technical perspective.
- Demonstrated experience serving as the go-to technical voice with customers.
- Ability to translate complex data topics into clear, actionable guidance.
- Proficiency mentoring and coaching others on SQL, data practices, and migration methodology.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Power Query, conditional formatting, and data cleansing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent complex projects.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with dbt, Airflow, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with data warehouse architectures, staging environments, and schema-as-code practices.
- Experience with cloud data infrastructure such as AWS S3, Redshift, RDS, or equivalent technologies.
- Knowledge of data validation frameworks and automated testing approaches.
- Experience with Fire/EMS data standards, including NFIRS, NERIS, or NEMSIS.
- Experience with public safety technology.
- Understanding of GIS data components and geospatial data handling.
