About the Role
This opportunity is for an entry-level Scrum Master who will facilitate and coordinate Agile processes within engineering and cross-functional teams. The role supports project organization, meeting facilitation, task coordination, status reporting, work tracking, and continuous improvement so teams can collaborate efficiently and deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.
The position works within an engineering environment that includes developers, testers, DevOps professionals, and Scrum Masters. Development skills are not required, and Scrum certification is not required. The successful candidate should be able to organize project work in dashboards and project management tooling, support small to medium-sized projects, facilitate Agile meetings, maintain work-status metrics, and continue building Scrum Master skills through training and continuing education support.
What You'll Do
- Facilitate and coordinate Agile processes across engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Help teams work collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Support work progress so projects stay on schedule and meet expected quality standards.
- Help foster continuous improvement and consistent team performance.
- Organize project work in dashboards and project management tooling.
- Keep project status information accurate and up to date.
- Help coordinate small to medium-sized projects across the organization.
- Report project status regularly through verbal updates in small meetings.
- Provide written asynchronous project status updates when needed.
- Create small tasks in project management software and assign them as appropriate.
- Facilitate meetings, including standups, iteration boundary meetings, and retrospectives.
- Support meetings with groups ranging from 3 to more than 45 people.
- Maintain metrics on the status of work currently in progress.
- Analyze team processes and support improvement through retrospective meetings.
- Manage issues, small features, and defects for teams when needed.
- Facilitate demos of completed issues and requests.
- Help identify resourcing constraints for upcoming projects and suggest potential candidates based on skills within the engineering team.
Qualifications
- Evidence of the ability to meet many of the stated first-year goals and responsibilities.
- History of getting work done well and following through on responsibilities.
- Ability to support Agile processes, project coordination, meeting facilitation, task tracking, and status reporting.
- Ability to work with engineering and cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to organize project work using dashboards and project management tooling.
- Ability to communicate project status verbally in small meetings and through written asynchronous updates when needed.
- Ability to facilitate standups, iteration boundary meetings, retrospectives, and demos.
- Interest in developing Scrum Master skills through training and role-specific coaching.
- No software development skills are required.
- Scrum certification is not required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest or capability in managing issues, small features, and defects for teams.
- Interest or capability in facilitating demos of completed issues and requests.
- Interest or capability in helping evaluate resourcing constraints for upcoming projects.
- Interest in earning a Scrum certification with continuing education support.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary starts at $84,000 per year for U.S.-based employees.
- Hourly equivalent starts at approximately $40.38 per hour, based on 2,080 hours per year.
- The final salary offer will be based on experience and skill level.
- Pay for this position is based on market rates for Philadelphia.
- Annual bonuses are variable and tied to a percentage of year-end profits, time worked, and salary earned during the year.
- Annual bonuses have averaged 15% of annual salary over the last three years.
- Total benefits package value may be up to $30,000.
- Full health and dental insurance costs are covered for full-time employees and dependent children.
- Health and dental coverage is provided at 70% to 80% of plan costs for an entire family.
- 401(k) plan includes a match on employee contributions up to 4% of base salary.
- 401(k) plan includes access to many low-cost investing options.
- Company-sponsored life insurance and long-term disability insurance premiums are fully paid for employees.
- Continuing education benefits are provided up to $7,000 per year.
- Employees may work remotely as much as they choose, including employees who live in or near Philadelphia.
- The role generally follows a standard workday, with flexibility to adjust hours within that framework.
- Parents welcoming a new child are eligible for 13 weeks of fully paid leave and up to an additional 39 weeks at half-time.
