Material Handler - 2nd Shift

Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM

Role overview

You’ll support daily warehouse and material handling operations for a manufacturing environment by coordinating shipping, receiving, inventory movement, material staging, warehouse workflow, and team support.

What you’ll do

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and support to material handling team members.
  • Assist with task assignments and monitor workflow to support timely completion.
  • Support onboarding and training for new warehouse employees.
  • Receive, locate, transfer, and stage materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Load and unload materials across trucks, racks, pallets, conveyors, and storage areas.
  • Verify counts, weights, labeling, and documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Identify and document damaged materials, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to meet production schedules.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Transport materials throughout the facility using proper tools and equipment.
  • Assist production teams and machine operators with material movement and staging.
  • Organize, stack, and maintain materials for efficient storage and workflow.
  • Complete reports, documentation, inventory transactions, and system updates accurately.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory tracking.
  • Support audits, quality improvements, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.

What you’ll need

  • 2 to 4+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or shipping and receiving.
  • Prior lead, coordinator, or informal leadership experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping practices, and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial production environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with international shipping requirements and shipping documentation preferred.
  • Experience with inventory systems or warehouse management systems preferred.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
