Annual Salary: $54,000 to $65,000
Travel: Travel is required when necessary and may occur approximately two to four times per year for internal and external organizational events.
Position Overview
The Communications Associate is a creative and collaborative role focused on developing high-quality content that supports the organization’s brand and program objectives. This position works closely with program teams to engage scholars, alumni, and other key audiences through email, social media, websites, print materials, video, and additional communication channels.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with team members to create, edit, and refine content for email, social media, websites, print materials, video, and other communication channels.
- Develop messaging and creative assets that align with established brand standards.
- Support program teams by producing content designed to keep scholars, alumni, and other core audiences informed and engaged.
- Adapt written and visual content for different audiences, programs, platforms, and communication formats.
- Monitor emerging marketing and communications trends.
- Recommend relevant best practices for content development, audience engagement, and communication strategies.
- Review and balance differing feedback related to messaging, content, and creative materials.
- Escalate conflicting feedback or unresolved messaging concerns when necessary.
- Maintain high standards for writing, editing, design quality, accuracy, and visual presentation.
- Participate in organization-wide initiatives, including reviewing applications and supporting internal and external events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience.
- Excellent writing, editing, and design skills.
- Demonstrated experience adapting content for different communication channels.
- Strong understanding of how written content and visual design work together.
- Ability to maintain a consistent organizational voice while adjusting tone for different audiences and programs.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments.
- Working knowledge of website content management systems.
- Working knowledge of email marketing software.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms.
- Experience using design programs such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong awareness of and sensitivity toward students from diverse backgrounds.
